“Just a word about Thanksgiving and feasting with close friends and family - bring the good stuff to drink.” - Our very own Tom Athans on Facebook today, November 19th, 2012
We agree, wholeheartedly. But maybe until then while we try and finish up loose ends at work, and shop, and prep, and brine, we still need some wine! For that we have a couple new values that just landed at Dandelion today.
CAPARZO SANGIOVESE TOSCANA 2010: Easy-drinking, juicy red with bright cherry and blackberry fruit. This Sangiovese blend from Tuscany is a killer choice for pizza or pasta take-out. $11
DOMAINE SARRABELLE CROIX BLANCHE AOC GAILLAC 2009: 80% Duras and 20% Braucol, a wine we love for its undeniable French character… earth and minerals abound! Made by 2 brothers, Fabien and Laurent Causse in Southwest France. $14

THANKSGIVING HOURS AT DANDELION WINE
November 14, 2012
We had an impromptu cheese party on Sunday!
Gessami Gramona 2011 Penedes - An aromatic white from Cava Country - about 45 minutes from Barcelona. Gessami is a fruity blend of 2 varieties of Muscat, Sauvignon Blanc, and Gewürztraminer. Apricots and jasmine on the nose, ripe pear and spice on the palate. Crisp mineral finish. An amazing choice for all many flavors of Thanksgiving. $19
Chateau Cambon 2011 Beaujolais - What began as a project of three friends: the late Marcel Lapierre, Jean-Claude Chanudet (with his wife Geneviève) and Joseph Chamonard remains now in the hands of Jean-Claude Chanudet and his wife Geneviève (the daughter of Joseph Chamonard). So basically this is an example of a Beaujolais love-fest (or as Will says, ‘a good old-fashioned orgy in your mouth’) and you can taste the love in every sip of this 100% Gamay wine. Bright and ripe red fruit, soft tannins, earth… a delightful wine for cheese or a turkey sandwich or a Sunday afternoon while flipping through the Times. $19
Ca di Noce Notte di Luna - This organic “orange wine” is made in small quantities using Malvasia Candia, Moscato Giallo, and Spergola with extended skin contact of 5 days and aged in large wooden barrels, or botti. The extended skin contact is what adds body and an orange tint to what would otherwise be a white wine. The result is full body and firm structure with nutty notes and crisp acidity. A perfect wine to drink with fatty meats, sausage, turkey skin… $26

Asimov’s #1 pick (3 1/2 stars) for Thanksgiving in the New York Times today is one of our favorite California wines we carry… Steve Edmunds’ 2010 Bone-Jolly Gamay $22
“Earthy, spicy, dry, lip-smacking and delicious.”
“… a perennial favorite of mine, the 2010 Bone-Jolly from Edmunds St. John, a rare American gamay, the grape of Beaujolais, from El Dorado County in California gold country. It’s light-bodied but intensely flavored, agile and earthy, with each sip thirst-quenching yet intriguing enough to inspire another. It’s an American take on Beaujolais, not a facsimile, perfect for an American holiday. If it’s unavailable, any number of good Beaujolais will do…” -Eric Asimov, New York Times, November 9, 2012
