Join us tonight, 6-9 pm, for a tasting with our DJ friend Clarke from Rosenthal Wine Merchants, one of our most favorite importers. Rosenthal specializes in wines that really exhibit terroir, the unique places where the grapes are grown. These wines are story-tellers, and you’re transported with every bottle to the fields from which they originated. We’re so excited to share them with you over records from Clarke’s personal collection and cheese from Eastern District!

Commanderie de Peyrassol Rose, Provence 2012

One of our favorites year after year, Peyrassol Rose is just what we want out of a pink wine. A pale-salmon colored blend of Grenache, Cinsault, and Syrah from healthy quarter-century old vines, it’s got a pretty red fruit-flower aroma and vibrant stone fruit and chill minerality on the palate. A trip to Provence in a bottle. $19

Domaine La Manarine, Cotes du Rhone Rouge 2011

100% Grenache lends this cheery Southern Cotes du Rhone red some spice and concentration. After almost two years of maturation, the wine is bottled without filtration, so the pure grape-y Grenache fruit shines through. A versatile food wine that pairs well with burgers of both the meat and veggie variety. $15

Vive la France!

Tonight, 6-9 pm, we’re throwing down with our friend and neighbor Rob Novick from T. Edward Wines! Rob will be pouring three French wines that are tres magnifique and all incredible values! We’ll pair ‘em up with delicious fromage from Eastern District!

Domaine Desvignes Chablis 2010

Wine must run through the veins of the Desvignes family. The domaine in the Chablis region of Burgundy is currently run by the fourth generation. Other branches of the Devignes clan has made wine in Beaujolais and the Rhone. Pierre Desvignes prefers the plot in Chablis, which is one of the larger around. He sells some grapes to other vineyards but keeps all the best ones to make his own wines, like this one that we are CRAZY about. This super clean, super lean Chardonnay sees no oak, so the crisp, pure, bright grapes really come through in every bottle. Chablis is famous for its minerality, which this wine is chock-full of. It’s an incredible value at $17!

Domaine Fichet Bourgogne “Tradition” 2010

This red Burgundy is another out-of-this-world value from one of our favorite regions. Olivier and Pierre-Yves Fichet’s vineyard was started by their father in 1976 in the town of Ige, where today it remains one of the only estate producers. The brothers’ Burgundy is old world Pinot Noir at it’s best: delicate red fruit, serious structure, and incredible elegance. $15

Chateau Thenac “Fleur du Perigord” Bergerac 2008

Chateau Thenac is situated in picturesque Bergerac, a small appellation in the Rhone. Their “Fleur du Perigord” is a show-stealer from an often overlooked region. A blend of Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, this wine is rich and BOLD, deep purple in color, with distinctive notes of chocolate, coffee, fig, and blackberries. Fall is here and this is a wine that is sure to keep you warm! $20
