There are a lot of big things happening in our beloved borough, the increasingly hip home of Jay Z, Al Capone, Ina Garten, and Carl Sagan, not to mention Dandelion Wine. With CSAs, farmer’s markets, breweries, distilleries, and a 43,000 suare foot rooftop farm it’s becoming easier and easier to drink and eat local… and tonight, 6-9 pm, we’re celebrating that with our friends from BROOKLYN OENOLOGY, tasting three wines made practically in our own backyard from NY state grapes, featuring labels by Brooklyn artists! Meet winemaker Alie, share cheese from our friends at Eastern District, and listen to some of our favorite Brooklyn based bands on the record player!

Shindig 2011

"95% Vidal Blanc / 5% Riesling (sourced from two Finger Lakes vineyard sites), there are flavors of citrus, green apple, stone fruit, lemon zest, a little slate and ginger, and a touch of sweetness mingled with refreshing minerality on the finish… Being a lip smacking , thirst-quenching, food loving wine, Shindig is a perfect aperitif and matches shellsh, sushi, salads, vegetables, fried seafood, BBQ, and any time that a great, refreshing summer sipper might be required!" $16

"A traditional, old world styled Sauvignon Blanc (made from grapes grown on Long Island’s North Fork) with a nose of gooseberry, grapefruit, and grass. The palate has a crisp lemon backbone combined with tropical fruits like guava, starfruit, and passionfruit. Light and refreshing with lots of acidity, it finishes clean, with lingering minerality. Perfect with seafood, scallops, shrimp, oysters, ceviche, asparagus, and dishes marinated in citrus. Also delicious with fresh goat cheese or rosemary-herbed olives." $21
